I've got the lurgy.
I never realised my nose could hold so much...
Eeeww.
No rest for the wicked though; I'm working at the theatre non-stop for a bit. We don't get to call in sick unless we're dying. I'll lay off the craft activities for a bit, though. No-one wants to order the lurgy along with their handcrafted gifts.
In other news, I've received a DVD of my album launch which took place in July 2010! It was a long time coming, but I'm very glad to have a copy now. When I've got time the vids will make their way to YouTube (and a copy will be coming to you asap GD).
That's all for now!

Ooh, beads!!
Maybe I was pulling your leg a little bit when I said I hated shopping for beads.
My lovely new bead package has just landed on the mat - 2 packets of crackle beads, a big packet of lovely letter beads for personalising, and some silver plated earring hooks. That last one was an impulse purchase - seems like making earrings wouldn't be too different from making keyrings.
I must just share with you the seller's ebay shop Diamonte Designs - she's a local supplier from Doncaster and sells all sorts of lovely stuff like beads, charms, pendants, and findings. I usually choose from her "Free P&P" selection and I'm always very happy with my purchases.

Beady greedy
Been using up an awful lots of my beads today. May simply have to buy some more - oh no!! I hate buying beads, just like I hate chocolate.
Chanced upon a couple of rolls of wire in my craft stash, and decided to make some keyrings. I used various pendants for the ends (the peace symbol, howling wolves, crescent moons, flowers, and hearts), and then built upwards with beads, buttons, sequins, and gemstone chips, and then finished each keyring off with a little split ring at the top.
They can be used as handbag charms too.
I've also been using up some of my card blanks, making some notecard sets, and I also made a new dreamcatcher with three beady stems hanging from it made in the same way as the keyrings.
Some of it's for Homespun Gifts and some to be donated to the tabletop sale at church; I'll decide what I can bear to part with later. But first, I've got some bead shopping to do :-(

Swirly and Flowery Business Card Holders
Another new thing I made!
These bright blue business card holders are made from strong cardstock, and can hold around 30 cards. They fit 90 x 52mm cards like the ones from Vistaprint. Or you can get a free Word 2007 template to print your own cards here.
Keep your business cards clean and straight in your handbag - no more scuffed corners - and you can choose between two designs, flower or swirl.
Browse and buy these and more at: http://www.homespungifts.co.uk/practical.html#stationery

Buddhist Prayer Beads
I was just about to blog about a new thing I made, when I realised that I missed something out! I made these Prayer Beads a couple of weeks ago and forgot to tell you. I shall slap my own wrist! But then I'll slip one of these Prayer Bead Wrist Malas onto my slapped wrist, and get counting.
They each have 27 beads, not counting the big mountain bead, so you can go around 4 times to get to 108 and use the mountain bead as a marker for starting and finishing. They are made to fit an average wrist and have some slack in the threading to allow for moving each bead along as you count.
When not being worn, they look very pretty kept on a Buddhist statue.
You can browse these Wrist Malas and buy for £5 each (complete with a beautiful organza bag for safekeeping) at: http://www.homespungifts.co.uk/spiritual.html#prayerbeads.

Hettie's Diamond Jubilee
![]() |
| Oops, I thought Diamond meant 50 years. |
Busy, busy, busy. After an extremely long shift at the theatre on Friday, I was up bright and early Saturday morning to prepare for Hettie's "Diamond Jubilee" - that is, her birthday party for a rather momentous age [I found out later that Diamond Jubilee means 60 years - oops. I'm blaming Brian for this one, as he told me it meant 50 years].
I had previously had a great find at The Works: these lovely pink and green paper chains:
So the paper chains were everywhere, along with colourful bunting, happy birthday banners, and balloons. We had a snack table inside, a barbecue outside, some good tunes on the "boombox" and a bit of sunshine too.
Hettie says loved her narrowboat-shaped cake and her main present, which was a gift experience certificate for a day out learning how to handle a narrowboat.
I also got to meet my long-lost cousin Brandon for the first time - a nice polite young chap who reminds me of me ten years ago.
Today, church, where Brian made a new friend, and I got grafted in to help with some activities. Now for football and relaxation before craft- and music-related work again tomorrow.
